Car accidents are a leading cause of paralysis

An injury that leads to paralysis is incredibly serious and can change the course of a person’s entire life. In some cases, people are able to recover some of the skills that they have lost and take strides toward regaining their physical abilities. But a complete spinal cord injury could result in permanent paralysis that there is currently no way to heal with modern medical technology.

These severe injuries can happen in many ways, but studies have found that one of the leading causes in the United States is that individuals are injured in car accidents. Motor vehicle crashes account for approximately 36.5% of all the new cases of paralysis that are recorded every year. This is slightly more than one-third of the total.

In fact, if you combine medical issues, violence, and injuries suffered during sporting events, car accidents cause more incidences of paralysis than all of these others combined. This means that it is vastly more likely that someone will suffer life-altering injuries in a car crash than in almost any other way. And that is on top of the tens of thousands of fatal accidents that happen every year.

Have you suffered serious injuries?

If you’ve been involved in a car crash that led to these severe injuries, you may feel that your entire life changed in a split second. With something like paralysis, things may never go back to the way that they were before. As such, it is important for you to understand all the legal options at your disposal to seek substantial financial compensation from the parties who were responsible.
